Legarza Basketball Camp458

GREAT CAMP!!!! This camp is all that a parent could ask for, and more. No matter the age, every camper learns the game in an environment that is safe, fun, and most important, POSITIVE. Fantastic coaches and staff always made for a great week.

Best camp I've ever been to. I learned the foundation there that allowed me to go on to be a college player in a fun setting. The coaches were great, very enthusiastic as well as instructional. I made friends at this camp I still have today.

My daughter just finished a Sring league with Legarza. I was very unimpressed. The coaches did not seem to care that some teams had a couple of players that were tremendously better than others,or that some teams were guarding outside the box, and grabbing/stealing the ball away from kids who were smaller. One coach even insisted that the girls tuck in their overly large Legarza t-shirts. Why on earth should they care about the shirts? They should have been watching/helping the girls play good basketball, and making sure that each girl got to handle the ball.

Legarza Basketball Camp is a amazing camp and Mike Legarza is a great coach and leader. I would send anyone to this camp i love it a lot and so do my kids!!!

My two girls in 1st grade attended Legarza Basketball Camp in Summer 2005. They had a great time, and one of them is distinctly not sporty. The counselors are very spirited and energetic. They teach a lot of themes involving good sportsmanship and confidence building. The girls enjoyed it a lot. The only hesitation I had was that my girls were young (first grade) and it seemed a little risky with all those hard basketballs whizzing around them. But they did not get hurt. The positive part was they did develop some basketball skills and had a lot of fun. The cost is reasonable for the half day. There is also some free extended care before the morning session and after the last session, which is a nice freebie for working parents. Regarding the other message from some person who felt "cheated." We personally know the Legarzas as they have a child in our class, and know them to be a very honest and ethical couple. Mike in the past managed the St. Brendan Gym, and Kim is the Mother's Club President. It must have been a scheduling misunderstanding in a rare instance and it should not discourage you from this very good camp.

I think Legarza Basketball is a amazing camp! the kids love it so much and they coaches are great. Also Mike Legarza is a great leader of the camp. I would sign up any child to go ... atheltic or not they will still have fun and learn a good lesson in being a good sport!

My son enjoyed his time at Legarza, but we believe that we were cheated. The website promised 90 minute sessions, from 2:00 to 3:30pm, but after they got our money, they announced that really it would be 3:30pm to 4:45pm, or 75 minutes. Cutting back on the sessions allowed them to set up another league and collect several thousand dollars more, but every single kid was deprived of a significant part of what was promised. Furthermore, they changed schedules later. Bait and switch? Overt theft? When I asked what was going on with this stuff, they never bothered to answer. What is really ironic about this camp is that almost every week we got copies of various messages about being a good sport. The same week they didn't answer me, they sent out a paper saying, "Say what you mean, and mean what you say." I only wish they had followed that.

Great coaches, great enthusiasm, we'll sign up again next year.
