When kids have had enough of the Strip and need to cut loose and play, head to the
largest educational institution for children in the Las Vegas area:
Lied Discovery Children's Museum, an award-winning stop, to say the least. It took top honors in our 2010 quest to find the Best Museum in our
2010 Nick's Parents Picks Awards; it was the winner in two categories in 2009 - Best Party Place and Best Museum for Kids; and the museum was similarly honored in 2008 when it won Best Museum for Little Kids and Best Indoor Playspace categories. Wow!
In
Desert Discovery, kids can cast themselves as Old West miners, working the day away with gears, pullies, and buckets. When they get tired of being miners, they can turn into hard-hat-wearing construction workers at
Boulder Mountain and
Cactus Construction.
For non-walkers,
Baby Oasis offers crawling ramps and safe materials that babies can manipulate with all their senses.
Desert in the Dark teaches children about what creatures do at night and is filled with storybooks, soft puppets, and nighttime costumes.
Kids fascinated with the hustle-bustle of adult life will have a blast in the
Green Village Pavilion. Here they can choose a job, earn a paycheck and cash it at the bank, go grocery shopping, and visit the post office - all in an environment that focuses on green, sustainable living. Finally, head to the Little Learner area, where drop-in
exploratory and creative workshops take place between 10am and 3pm daily.
The Museum also hosts
birthday parties and offers a variety of party packages. Visit the website for more information.
