Your little performer might enjoy a one-hour behind-the-scenes glimpse of one of New York's great theatrical venues.
The Classic Tour of Lincoln Center includes a stroll through
The Metropolitan Opera House, New York State Theater, Avery Fisher Hall or
The Vivian Beaumont Theater (tours vary, depending on what's happening at each venue on the given day). Guides are experienced in what would be of interest to children and tell great stories, and there's a chance you'll get to see a bit of a rehearsal in progress if you visit during the week.
Lincoln Center's
Piano Forte tour of the Center's workshop dedicated to restoring concert-quality pianos is available only to groups of 15 or more, but these may offer more information than children really have patience for.
Lincoln Center also offers a
Jazz Tour at the Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of
Jazz at Lincoln Center, located at Columbus Circle.
