about Little Theatre of Alexandria:
Established in 1934 and located in historic Old Town Alexandria, the Little Theatre of Alexandria presents seven professional quality shows each season along with a series of original one act plays. The theatre generally presents at least one family-friendly show per season, such as The Christmas Carol. For those wanting to further develop their skills or simply interested in learning something new, LTA's educational program offers all levels of acting classes (adult and youth courses - ages five and up), courses in directing, singing and dance, and technical seminars in such areas as theatrical makeup and set painting. At the conclusion of the classes, the students perform in the annual LTA Spring Showcase. Two ten-week sessions are offered; one begins in early September, and the second, in early January.
tips:
Parking is on the street. Watch posted signs, as some have two hour parking limitations. The Chevy Chase Bank on the corner of Wilkes and Washington streets lets patrons park in its lot when the bank is closed. There are several garages within walking distance - one is on Washington Street, near King, and there are several on Pitt, near King. Look for the "Public Parking" signs.
getting there:
From Points North: "How would you get to Reagan National Airport?" That's the first question to answer. Once you've gotten onto the GW Parkway and passed the airport on your left, continue heading south. The Parkway becomes Washington Street as you enter the city of Alexandria. Once you cross King Street, start to pay attention. The third left after King is Wolfe Street. Make a left on Wolfe; you will find LTA on the right hand side of the block, at the corner of Wolfe and St. Asaph streets.
