Living Wisdom School358

After touring 17 schools I am so glad that I found Living Wisdom School. The other schools that I visited either focused academics or emotional development. Living Wisdom School balances both. This was my daughter's first experience away from home and in a school setting. The teachers were so loving and took time to make my child feel comfortable and welcome in the classroom. Not only does this school offer academics with enriching music classes and art, but they teach children the skills of how to be compassionate and loving. When I leave my child I know she is in very capable hands and I feel she is getting the best preschool experience possible. She has a huge smile on her face when I pick her up. She talks about her teachers constantly. I'm so impressed that a school could make such a positive impact. I love the small, intimate classroom setting and I think my daughter really benefits from it. I would highly recommend this school.

My son has thrived at this school. He is in the first grade and switched from a larger school this year. The teachers are very sensitive to individual learning styles. The school balances social skills, compassion for others, nature, academics, and the arts so nicely.

Did not seem very understanding of individual children's needs and personalities. Im sure it is great for the few who fit right in though.

I have two children that attend Living Wisdom--one in kindergarten and one in 1st grade. They both love it! Yes, it's small--but it's growing. I see the small class size as a real advantage. Their teacher is able to tailor the curriculum to their developmental needs and interests. We have found that they are working far above their grade level in this environment. They also spend a lot of time on social skills. Because it is such a small group, it is imperative that everyone is respectful of one another, and are able to resovle conflicts--and the teacher is able to take the time to make sure this happens. When I've asked my kids if they would rather go to a bigger school--the answer is "no way!" They really love this place!

Sometimes a school can be too small -- and insular. I'm glad I chose Montessori instead.

Just a note regarding the comment on the location of school in relation to I5: The school has a small orchid with lots of trees and grass and a garden in the back, and trees as well as another building block off the freeway from the school. Trees help to settle out, trap and hold particle pollution, as well as abosrb CO2 and other dangerous gasses. I would hate for someone to disregard this great school based on its location! Come by for a visit before you make decision. The physcial and emotional health of my children is very important to me. Our expereince at this school has been fantastic. I highly reccomend it!

My son attends the Living Wisdom kindergarten, after graduating from the Living Wisdom preschool. Although we were extremely pleased with Living Wisdom preschool, we felt the need to research several other kindergarten/elementary options in the area. After much deliberation, we decided on Living Wisdom for elementary school--and have not regretted the decision for a moment. What a perfect place to learn! The class size is very small, so his teacher is able to individualize the instruction to each child's needs and interests. They also put a lot of energy into social interactions and inner growth. His enthusiasm for school is remarkable. They do a lot of amazing art and science projects, including a weekly trip to care for salmon at Carkeek Park. The teacher is incredibly creative with improving their language and math skills. Although my son has always loved learning, his joy for reading and love for math has only increased during this year. Music, Art, and Spanish specialists come to their class every week. It really has a been a wonderful kindergarten experience for all, and we plan to continue through the remainder of his (and his younger sibbling's) elementary years!
