Loch Haven Park is the grand host for Orlando's primary
art and cultural district - and a welcome alternative to the theme parks - with the
Orlando Museum of Art,
Orlando Science Center,
Orlando Repertory Theatre, and more within its borders.
The park covers 45 acres and is nestled between three lakes: Lake Estelle on the north, Lake Rowena on the east, and Lake Formosa on the south. While there aren't any playgrounds, the
wide open lawn areas are well maintained and much of the park is covered by old oak trees, providing
plenty of shade. It's a great place for a stroll, or a picnic under the canopy of leaves - but bring a blanket along, because there are only a few benches and no tables.
Special events are held at the park throughout the year, and there's always penty to do - and traffic to dodge - in the area and at the museums.
