From November through February, the seasonal skating rink in Akron's outdoor festival and events area, Lock 3 Live!, gets iced over for free skating sessions, lessons, and special events. See the website for the current schedule, which varies for holidays and other events.
Skate rentals are available for children's size six and up. Street shoes are not permitted on the ice. Skaters must register, and each child under age 12 must have an adult's signature.
The rink can be rented for skating parties, and pre-school learn-to-skate lessons are held several mornings each week.
