About Lockport Caves

The Lockport Cave & Underground Boat Ride in Lockport, on the Erie Canal, offers a 70-minute guided tour through America's past. Visitors explore the historic Erie Canal Locks 67-71, constructed in 1838, view ruins from an earlier industrial age, and walk safely through a water tunnel that was blasted out of solid rock in the 1850s.

The capper is a one-of-a-kind underground boat ride, illuminated only by small, sporadically placed electric lights.

Tips

Comfortable walking shoes and a sweater or windbreaker are recommended - the cave temps hover at around 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

Getting There

Take Rt. 78 North (Transit Road) to Main Street in downtown Lockport. Make a right on Main and continue until you are at the intersection of Main and Pine. Make a left turn onto Pine, and then a quick right into the parking garage, or park on the Pine Street bridge.
