The
winner of our 2008
Parents' Picks quest to find the
Best Museum for Teens in Albuquerque, the
Lodestar Astronomy Center features some of the most impressive technology in New Mexico.
Housed in the
New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, the facility boasts state-of-the-art digital imaging, which has vastly improved the beauty and clarity of planetarium presentations and shows. Even novice astronomers can pick out the constellations.
If the stars do not move you, try the
Virtual Voyages Motion Simulator - theater seats move in six directions. Additional ticketing is required. Children under four are not permitted.
The museum is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and non-holiday Mondays in January and September.
Special events and programs are offered on a regular basis - check our
event calendar for details.
