about Los Angeles Philharmonic:

The Los Angeles Philharmonic has been hailed as Southern California's leading performing arts institution and is recognized as one of the world's outstanding orchestras. Performances take place at the state of the art, Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Though tickets may be hard to come by when Yo-Yo Ma or Itzhak Perlman are in town, the Toyota Symphonies for Youth concerts are perfect for kids ages five to 11 and their families. Taking place on eight Saturday mornings throughout the season, each program makes the experience of symphonic music accessible and enaging for children.

Audience participation is encouraged, especially at the pre-concert activities, which include storytelling, creative art projects, and a chance to try some instruments and to meet musicians.

These series of concerts begin at 11am; pre-concert activities begin 10am. Call in advance to reserve tickets.

A little known benefit available is the Philharmonic Junior Patron Program. Children are invited to become members of the Patrons and proceeds benefit the Los Angeles Philharmonic's endowment. The annual membership fee is $75 for the first two children, and $25 for each additional child. Benefits include the child's name is listed in the program of the youth concerts; an invitation to an exclusive "Meet-the-Artist" event following the final Toyota Symphonies for Youth concert ; an invitation to a Hollywood Bowl rehearsal, and much more. It's a great way to introduce your children to philanthropy, take part in a community, and ensure concert tickets for the season.

Also popular are the Hollywood Bowl SummerSounds music performances for kids in the summer.
