Lovejoy's serves up no-nonsense Kansas City-style barbecue in a casual family environment. While there's nothing fancy or particularly exciting about this stand-alone strip mall building, the staff is friendly and the food is tasty and affordable. Generous platters of smoked beef brisket, tender sliced pork, ribs, ham, chicken, hot links, and burnt ends are served with side choices including fries, potato salad, coleslaw, black beans, and mac and cheese. Prices range from $10.95-$14.95. Southern fried catfish is available all day and comes with collard greens, corn bread, and a side for $12.95. Lunch specials are served daily from 11am-2:30pm. Prices range from $4 for a small beef, pork, or ham sandwich to $7 for a large combo sandwich basket. Young ‘uns can choose from chicken strips, sandwiches of BBQ beef, ham, or pork, or the Junior pork or beef rib dinner. All items on the kids' menu are served with fries and a refillable beverage. You can douse your entrée with mild or spicy barbecue sauce - don't worry, there's a roll of paper towels on the table to clean up with afterward. Save room, ‘cause desserts are good, particularly the rich and chewy bread pudding and blackberry cobbler. Catering and take-out services are available.
