Lower Huron Metropark, located along the Huron River, is a great getaway for residents of the southern regions of metro Detroit. The park features a par-3 golf course (great for teaching your kids the basics) and self-guided nature trails.
The park's newest feature is the Turtle Cove Family Aquatic Center, featuring two waterslides, a lazy river, zero-depth entry pool, and a sprayground area.
Although the park's paved hiking-biking trail is just four miles in length, it connects to Willow and Oakwoods Metroparks for a 30-mile round trip.
Organized youth groups are welcome to camp year-round at the park. There are lots of areas to picnic, and fishing is allowed all along the river.
In the wintertime, three ice skating rinks are formed near the Foxwoods Picnic area. There is wood for building rinkside fires, and heated bathrooms are nearby.
