Students at LREI (Little Red Schoolhouse & Elisabeth Irwin High School) range in age from four-year-olds through the 12th grade. The Lower School and Middle School are located at the Sixth Avenue Campus, and the High School is located at 40 Charlton Street.
The Afterschool Program is split into three age groups: the Reds (4's through first graders), Blues (second through fourth graders), and Middle School.
Generally, afterschool activities for the Reds include: snack, board games, art projects, playground time at Downing Street Park or the roof, cooking, physical games, science projects, creative movement, and storytime.
Afterschool activities for the Blues include: Homework time, snack, chess, board games, theater games, organized sports play, cooking, and playground time at Downing Street Park or Houston Street Park.
The Middle School program includes homework and snack until 4:30pm and then organized activities until 6pm.
The program runs from 2:45pm to 6pm at a cost of $6 per hour, billed every other month. Registration is required.
Afterschool enrichment and instrumental music classes are also available.
Summers at LREI feature Little Red Summer Camp for ages three and a half to ten, LREI Institute for ages ten to 14, and Musical Theater Workshop for ages seven to 14.
