Mable House is comprised of an arts and cultural center, an amphitheatre, and the historic house itself - all located in a scenic, wooded setting in South Cobb.
The Mable House Arts Center, a facility of the Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department, presents performances by the Mable House Community Players, the Mable House Youth Players, workshops, children's fine art and performing arts classes, concerts, and special events. It is also the home of the South Cobb Arts Alliance and offers gallery exhibitions and other community events.
Annual themed art and theater summer camps are offered for children, ages four through 15, during a flexible summer schedule. 2006 features space travel, the universe and the planets, aliens, flying machines, strange new worlds, and science fiction. Campers work on a variety of projects using several different media and techniques, including clay, multi media, drawing, and acrylic painting, or acting and creative writing. Each weekly session costs $75; register well in advance for one or all six. For further information, contact the camp program by phone at 770.819.3285.
The Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre hosts a full schedule of live entertainment. The venue holds approximately 2,200 people per show; 146 in table seating, 1261 in fixed seating, and 800 in lawn seating. Seats are divided into tables and a general admission area on the lawn.
For most amphitheatre shows, patrons may bring personal-size coolers and/or picnic baskets with any food and drink (limited to beer & wine). For those who purchase orchestra seats, TV trays are allowed in the spacious aisles. Lawn ticket holders are allowed to bring blankets for their picnics. Food and drink are available for purchase from Mother's Finest Catering, or from concession stands inside the theatre.
