about Magic Beans:

The winner of our 2008 and 2009 Parents' Picks quest to find the best toy store in Boston, Magic Beans offers a savvy combination of baby gear (strollers, car seats, and other necessities) and toys for all ages. The baby gear department has garnered a national reputation, and offers one of the finest selections anywhere of unique and hard-to-find items, as well as all the gold standards. The products are hand-picked by parents who have clearly been there and done that. Most days, there are stroller matchmakers on hand to consult with new and expectant parents, and customers are always welcome to take floor models on Stroller TestDrives. The staff is very knowledgeable and well-trained, and the customer service is impeccable. They offer a gift registry, free assembly, and free delivery to local hospitals (for qualifying purchases).

For expectant parents looking to start a registry or get a complete introduction to the wide world of baby gear, make an appointment for best service.

In the toy department, as might be expected, Magic Beans has a very strong Infant/Toddler/Preschool section, but surprisingly, they also have a lot to offer for older children as well. There's a comprehensive arts and crafts department, a spygear section, a vast selection of puppets and stuffed animals ranging from Beanie Babies to Steiff, a healthy dose of dolls, dollhouses and dress-up, and a full range of Lego, Playmobil, Brio, Thomas and Erector. Magic Beans is also a flagship dealer for Bruder trucks, so they are always well stocked with an excellent selection.

The store also features a spacious play area complete with nursing chairs, two train tables and tons of other toys to sample. There is a regular schedule of programs in this space, including fitness classes, a weekly new moms' group, storytime, a kids' knitting circle and much more. We've highlighted some of these activities in our calendar, and be sure to visit the store's website for a complete schedule of events.

There is always complimentary gift wrap on all purchases and a very good frequent buyer program.
