about Magnolia Playfield:

Magnolia Playfield is a 15.26-acre park located just north of the Magnolia Village business district, adjacent the Magnolia Community Center and Mounger Pool. In addition to its large playfields and tennis courts, the park boasts an exciting and innovative playground, which opened in January, 2005.

The playground features the classic swings, teeter totter, and monkey bars, along with a great variety of novel climbing and balancing activities. There is a climbing wall with ropes, a climbing net, and a path of swinging stepping stones. The main structure also includes a cart that moves along a rail when cranked by a second person. As children head over to the swings, they first pass by two brightly colored seats that begin spinning when a child sits down. The parent group who planned and designed the playground made sure to provide activities suitable for children with disabilities, including a specially designed swing.

This playground presents plenty of stimulating activities for younger children, too. The small play structure for children ages two to five is much more than a miniaturized version of the larger one. In addition to safe and fun climbing activities, it includes an abundance of vibrant and attractive objects with lots of knobs and levers to spin, pull, and wiggle.

The play area is surrounded by trees, with plenty of benches and picnic tables. During summer and early fall, the Magnolia Farmer's Market is open Saturdays from 10am-2pm right next door at the Magnolia Community Center, creating a great opportunity for the family to enjoy a healthy snack in a beautiful setting.
