The newly revitalized Maheras-Gentry Park, situated on the Detroit River on the city's far east side, offers loads of opportunities for area families. The 52-acre-park features baseball diamonds, soccer fields, and a fishing pond. Children ages 5 to 19 play organized sports at the park via Think Detroit, a nonprofit organization that offers youth leagues in baseball, basketball, flag football, soccer, softball, track and field, and volleyball.
tips:
Maheras-Gentry Park is a great spot to have a good old-fashioned family picnic by the water. Pack your own lunches from home or stop by Angel's or the Wall Street Cafe in the Jefferson Village Shopping Center (on Jefferson and St. Jean) and grab some prepared sandwiches and salads before heading to the park.

Located on the Detroit River between Clairpointe Street and Kitchener. Enter the park from Clairpointe.
