A year round attraction thanks to a family-friendly restaurant and bakery, Mapleside is at its most fun in the fall, when a corn maze is in operation, and families can pick apples and pumpkins, hop on horse-drawn hay rides, and let kids loose in Harvest Hideout, a treehouse and play area.
The corn maze is more challenging and more fun than most - and the theme varies each season. One year, kids twisted through a pirate-themed maze armed with secret decoder glasses, searching for hidden clues to help them escape from the three acre maze. The annual theme is generally unveiled in mid- to late-summer. The maze is open in October on Fridays 4-10pm; Saturdays 10am-10pm; and Sundays 10am-6pm. Kids should bring flashlights on Fridays and Saturdays after dusk (Admission: $4). From September through mid-November (corn maze season, generally), Mapleside offers party packages for $5-10 per child, depending on the food and activities provided. Parties generally include use of the barn warehouse (and tables and chairs), playtime in Harvest Hideout, use of a giant inflatable slide and bouncer. Party goers take home coloring books as treats. Apple Farm Tours are designed to educate and entertain preschoolers about the apple harvest and how the fruit becomes cider. Donuts and playtime complete the tour ($7 per child; $4 per parent; teachers free).
