The latest incarnation of the Seattle Opera House, home of
Pacific Northwest Ballet and
Seattle Opera, opened in June 2003.
A large tiled plaza - featuring seating, landscaping, and water - serves as the main entrance and link to Mercer Street. During
performances, colored lights play off metal-mesh scrims installed alongside the promenade.
The hall's interior is brilliantly colorful and conducive to people-watching, and contains enough bathrooms that you can take kids to a performance and not worry about standing in line.
If you attend performances with children, look for booster seats on the main level beyond the lobby, along with the capacious bathrooms and a snackshop.
