Portland's
light rail system is more than a way to get around town - it's also a stand-alone attraction that offers a great view of the city and its outskirts. These trains are ideal for tasting the cultural flavors of the city; families, tourists, commuters, and everyone in between are happy passengers.
Three lines run through the city: the
Blue Line from Hillsboro to Gresham; the
Red Line from Downtown to the Airport; and the
Yellow Line from Downtown to the Expo Center.
Since it's part of
Tri-Met's public transportation system, your ticket is good on any city bus, trolley or streetcar. And of course, everyone rides free in
Fareless Square - the boundaries are Northwest Irving Street, I-405 and the Willamette River, in addition to the Lloyd District.
If you have purchased a ticket in advance, insert it in the validator next to the ticket vending machine to get a time stamp.
You must have a time stamp on your ticket in order for it to be a valid fare instrument. A time-stamped ticket is valid for two hours.
