One of the most unique parks on Gwinnett County allows families to experience life on a farm as it was in the early 1900s! McDaniel Farm Park, a former subsistence farm, has been restored to depict typical 1930s farm life. Designed to be educational, historical, and recreational, the park offers classes, special events, day camps, and volunteer opportunities. Guided tours ($5 per person) are available and the large pavilion can be rented. This 130-acre park also includes over two miles of paved multi-purpose trails that traverse woods, streams, and meadows. However McDaniel Farm was run by subsistence farmers that grew what they needed to survive. The McDaniels also had sharecroppers living on the property from 1913 to 1941, and it is this period that has been recreated. The property's original barn, well shed, blacksmith shed, and tenant farmer house have been restored.
