The Ballard consignment fixture
Me 'n Moms moved to the rapidly developing area between downtown Ballard and the
Ballard Locks in June 2003, and its expanded space and hip new look have turned it into Seattle's kids'
consignment destination. The store's large loft space sports orange, purple, and green walls and fixtures along with thoughtful features like a ramp for strollers, a large restroom equipped with changing table, and a train track play table for kids. An
additional store opened in Issaquah in 2006.
If you're expecting a baby, shop here first before buying new: unlike most area kids' consignment stores, which lack the space to stock large items,
Me 'n Moms carries a good (and constantly changing) selection of like-new baby and toddler paraphernalia from
carseats to furniture, up-to-date maternity clothes, and baby/parenting books.
Look for racks stuffed full of mostly name-brand clothes in all kids' sizes, including the hard-to-find gradeschool boys', and sundries like diaper covers, socks, hats, underwear, and a large selection of shoes. Prices on some consigned clothing items (especially non-name-brand) are higher than at other consignment stores and, in some cases, higher than new. Name-brand clothing is still a very good deal.
New baby items scattered throughout the store include RobEez leather shoes, cute locally made hats, and handpainted furniture. New and consigned toys are also available -
new toys include the Ryan's Room brand of colorful wood toys and dollhouse accessories, plus balls, pails, and other outdoor toys.
Seasonal
consignment is accepted by appointment only, and the store tends to be booked. Clothes must be clean, unstained, and ready to hang on the store's hangers; you'll get 50% of the purchase price in cash or store credit.
