Nature lovers spot many rare plants and more than 150 species of birds here; hikers can enjoy more than 3 miles of flat interconnecting loop trails as they wind through pine bluffs and deciduous forest, all the while enjoying views of Lake Erie's shore. If you want to see more than the shore, plan a visit around a cruise on the BB64, a US Navy craft that takes passengers on a 55-minute tour of the Lagoons and Lake Erie several times each summer. Payment and reservations are required in advance through the Lagoons office. For availability and the current schedule, call 440.205.3625. Facilities include a pay phone and portable restrooms by marina office.
Notes: Swimming is prohibited here. Pets are permitted, on leash, except on Marsh Rim Trail and Lakefront Loop. Bikes are permitted on Woods Trail and Marina Overlook. Electric carts are available for those who have trouble walking; to arrange use of one, call 440.205.3625 prior to your visit. Nearby, find Veterans Park (on Harbor Drive, about .5 miles south of the Lagoons). Veterans Park is a small city park with a playground, that is managed by Lake Metroparks.
