The Metropolitan Nursery School's philosophy is that young children thrive best in a small, family-oriented, nurturing environment and it is this philosophy and the continuity of a warm and nurturing faculty that gives the school its special style and flavor. Its purpose is to provide, as a community service, a Christian environment for children's early group learning experiences; to develop each child's self-confidence, sense of identity and self-respect; to provide an atmosphere of freedom and encouragement for the children to develop the realization that learning is exciting, fun, creative, unending, and infinitely varied; and contribute to the child's growth in physical, emotional and cognitive development. This learning takes place in all arenas, including social, academic and religious. There are three age-based programs. The two-year-old program is Tuesday and Thursday morning. The three-year-old program is either three mornings a week - Monday, Wednesday, and Friday - or five mornings a week. The four-year-old program is five days a week either half day or full day. Five-year olds with fall birthdays are welcome to attend the school.
