The aisles at Michaels are stocked with all manner of craft supplies, books, and gadgets, and most stores offer a host of how-to classes for beginner to advanced crafters.

Michaels offers weekly crafts for drop-ins, and crafty parties (with at least 10 days notice).

Craft activities for ages five to 12 are supervised from 10am-12n every Saturday. Crafts are seasonally appropriate and usually appeal to both boys and girls.

Party packages include one of 11 pre-selected projects or you can "create your own package" with Michaels party planners. You supply the cake and decorations; Michaels supplies the craft supplies and supervised instruction.

The party fee is $25 for room reservation, plus $6-$10 per child, depending on project selected.

Try a Saturday drop-in session before you arrange a party; some kids like the idea of doing "crafts," but don't like to take instructions when completing their projects.
