From June to October, on Sundays from !:00 to 4:00 docents are present in each building being the blacksmith, the school marm, the grieving widow organizing a funeral, etc. It is a small town in the 19th century and you can feel it. Often you can cross the bridge over the mill race and attend an old fashioned baseball game in costume, or see the new fangled penny-farthing (high wheel) bicycles, or civil war soldiers preparing to leave. (The famous black hat Michigan regulars were among those who stood and faught at Gettysburg to make it a Union victory). Or wander through the general store to buy penny candy or watch the blacksmith make hardware for the village. Great place to see, touch and learn. After Greenfield village, largest community type museum in S.E. Michigan. NO ADMISSION CHARGE!
