Lessons at this warm indoor pool at the
University of California at San Francisco are open to the public, in a manner of speaking (see "drawback" below). Programs include a parent/child adjustment to water class (6 months to three years of age) and pre-school lessons for children three-to-five years of age. http://gocitykids.parentsconnect.com/authoring/edit.jsp Group lessons for children ages five to 12 are organized by ability. Lessons are offered on weekends and run one half hour, once a week.
Drawback: You have to register in person and places are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. You have to call to find out the registration date. While you're calling, ask the staff to send you a catalog so you can find out what classes are offered. Then, the day before registration, call to see if those classes are available. Children of Fitness & Recreation Center members receive priority registration. If spaces are available, the staff recommends coming in as close to 7:30am (actual time registration starts) the day of registration to improve your chances of getting the class that you want. The center also offers lessons at Bakar Fitness & Recreation Center.
