Located on nearly eight acres in the heart of
Hermann Park,
Miller Outdoor Theatre is the only
free open-air theater of its kind in the United States, presenting performances by some of Houston's most dynamic arts organizations such as
Houston Grand Opera,
Houston Symphony, the
Houston Ebony Opera Guild, and many other multi-cultural groups and theater companies.
Some shows require advance (free) tickets at the box office for covered seats, but the
grass hill overlooking the theater is always open for more seating. It's a great place to bring a blanket or some lawn chairs - just hang out and have a picnic with the show. The
concession stand carries hot dogs, burgers, cold drinks, snacks, and more. Located behind the stage, the
restrooms are spacious and well-maintained.
