about Mingei International Museum - Balboa Park:
Mingei means "art of the people" and as such
Mingei International Museum is dedicated to furthering the understanding of the art of all cultures of the world. It celebrates the beauty of everyday objects around us. Changing exhibitions focus on historical and contemporary folk art, craft and design.
Mingei Museum has two locations: a primary one located in
Balboa Park and a satellite in
Escondido.

The museum offers free admission on the third Tuesday of every month.
getting there:
From the North: take I-5 to Sassafras Street, turn left onto Laurel, take Laurel into Balboa Park. From the South: take I-5 to Sixth Avenue exit, turn right onto Sixth Avenue, turn right onto Laurel, take Laurel into Balboa Park. From the East: take I-8 to 163 south. Take the University exit from 163 south; it becomes Sixth Avenue. Turn left on Laurel. Cross the bridge - you will be in Balboa Park.
