Recently attended a birthday party at MoonSoup and the play space and facility is nice and inviting. Trampoline, slide, tunnels, books, kitchen set, balls... even without a structured party, I think all the kids (ages 0 to 2.5) and parents had a great time. However, I must say that my experience was tainted by the woman (grayish hair) behind the cash register. She was quite rude. Maybe she was having a bad day? I noticed her rudeness as soon as I walked in and also heard other parents wondering why the woman was so unwelcoming. You would think a person working at a place for children would at least say hello or smile at children and parents coming in. She rudely told me to take my child to the back of the store because she didn't want children looking at the items for sale. Maybe she didn't notice that I was trying to take my 2 year old back as I had my newborn strapped to me so it was going to take me more than 2 seconds? The only thing my 2 year old was doing was pointing out Elmo. She didn't touch anything or mess anything up. Sheesh, lady... you should lighten up or work somewhere else if you don't want children in your children's store! But overall, the space was a good one to have a small party for a one year old!

Moonsoup is an extremely unique facility for children, especially for new york city. So many of these programs and classes claim to be focused on children's development, but you can tell that ultimately they are businesses whose primary concern is to make money. Not so with moon soup. They limit the number of children in each class to no more than ten or eleven, because they understand that smaller classes means more positive socialization and learning for the students. They also have an extremely liberal make up policy, because they understand that kid's schedules are far from an exact science. And, more than any other place in the vicinity, they have multiple open play opportunities, all of which are free if you take a class. I find it infuriating how so many other places charge for open play, or stuff so many people in their classes, and/or only allow a limited amount of makeup classes (if any). At moonsoup, you really feel like it is about the kids, not the business.

Terrific! Very different from the other places. Moon Soup classes are small and truly geared for learning, not simply entertainment. The kids are involved in activities, not just watching a show. My son started at 6 months and the classes for babies are great. Oh, and the free open play time is sooo useful when the weather is yucky or too cold to be outside.

We've taken two baby classes at Moonsoup and both have been great. Its always clean and a very stimulating environment. They are very flexible with Make ups, so there is no need to worry about whether to wake up your toddler for class. Our favorite teacher is Jess and I have to be honest, we've taken some make-ups with other teachers and I'm not always impressed. We love the open play time and holiday events -- if you live in the East 50's, I think taking classes at Moonsoup is a must. I went to a party at moonsoup and had my daugher's party there and both were fantastic, the kids didn't want to leave.

After taking a free trial class I signed up my daughter for the Spring session. Of the places I sampled, MoonSoup offered the most fun, friendly, & lively classes. I even renewed for the Summer session despite having moved downtown and now having to travel 45 minutes to get there. It's worth the trip!

We have been to both classes and birthday parties there. We have never been told not to bring a stroller. My 20 month old daughter loves the classes there. We have been to classes various places all over the city. She and I like MoonSoup the best.

How can you advertise an event for 0-2yr olds and ask people not to bring strollers? Absolutely absurd!!!!

My son and I attend the messy art classes at Moonsoup and it's just terrific! The teachers there are quality teachers who are well trained and creative - some of the best in the city. The class structure is fun and interesting as well. I feel that this really sets them apart from other kids' programs we've attended. We're signing up for another semester!

My daughter loves this place! I've been to play areas all over the city and this has one of the most flexiblity in terms of make up and carryover days. I've been to several birthday parties here (including my own daughters), the staff could not have been more accomodating and the kids all had a wonderful time.

We recently attended a birthday party at Moonsoup. When the party was over and I guess that they wanted us out, they turned the lights out on us. I think they wanted to go home, but it felt awful.

My 10 month old daughter just finished the Baby Rock semester. Whenever we walk in the door her eyes get big and she gets so excited. The classes are fun, the room is great for safe baby exploration, and the teachers are the BEST! Susan runs a great program.... we'll be back next semester!

A teeny space in the middle of midtown, cheerily decorated and pleasant. We attended a party for a 6yr old, but I think the space is better suited to toddlers age 2-4 as the simple activities and small space cannot keep the attention of the more curious and active kindergartener. However, staff was friendly, cheerful and eager to please.

The classes are very inventive and the place inviting and always different in terms of toys and toddler challenges so we go back loads for free open play dates! We love it - keep up the good work Susan and team!

This place offers one of the best classes I have ever taken with an infant (I have two, so we've done MANY!). The staff is so warm and the space is so inviting. LOVE IT!

when my daughter suggested i walk from east 81st street to take my 2 year old granddaughter to a class at 'moon soup' on east 56th street, she responded to my gasp with, ''it's worth it. you're gonna love it there'' and she was right!! the beautiful environment provided the perfect setting for creative play. our room included activity centers both educational and playful. i look forward to return visits. next time, however, i'll wear my nikes!

MoonSoup is a wonderful, new addition to the east side. A beautiful space with interactive classes for babies and toddlers, MoonSoup offers the perfect mixture of art, music, exploration, and play. My two year old cries every time we have to leave. I'm amazed at the variety of creative activities they come up with each week. This program is unique and very special.
