About Motor City Youth Theatre

Motor City Youth Theatre, founded in 1990, specializes in offering acting and musical theater training to children throughout the year. The company also hosts special children's and family events, such as karaoke afternoons, and provides opportunities to perform in talent shows and for senior groups.

Workshops are offered in dance, improv, and character development, and diction.

The group's summer day camp, which runs in July, explores all areas of the arts, with an emphasis on performance. Each camp concludes with an evening production.

MCYT is made for everyone to see..See the plays and talent grand...You have to be there to understand..How hard the kids work and Miss Nancy too...She gives it her all and you will too..The enthusiasm is catchy and you want to see more..Of the talent and singing and dancing and more..A four star production to nurture your child.Grows confidence,friendships for your growing child...Thank-you Miss Nancy...

I absolutely love MCYT! It's like a home to me! If I could, I'd live there. Also, Nancy is the best director ever! No one is as sweet as her! The kids are great also! I USED to be a new kid, but now I have tons of friends there! I LOVE MCYT!

These are the best and most creative kids' in the state of Michigan! All of these kids will be performing on the big screen in 10 years! You will always be glad you saw the start of these kids' careers. The staff cannot be better!

MCYT is great! This is only my second time at MCYT, but I love it. I feel like I could live there. Nancy is the best director ever. She is great; I love working with her because she makes understanding plays a lot easier. I love acting and being at MCYT makes it even better!

MCYT is an AWESOME group. It accepts and welcomes ALL children, not just the precocious talented ones. My developmentally-disabled child loves the group and feels important, as a result of the role he plays handling the lights and sound.........Thank you, Nancy :)

MCYT is a fantastic group! I have two children that joined this winter and they loved it. My son can be very emotional and has a hard time with competitive sports, this group made him feel like he was one of them. We usually never get through a season with out him complaining (with sports) He loves MCYT so much he wants to continue! They makes sure that every person big or small that is willing to do the work gets a place in the program. The whole group gets along great. There is no nasty competitive behavior between the kids. They all encourage each other! This program far surpassed my expectations! And the fees are minimal I do not know how they do it. I am glad a friend invited us to see her children in a play. I do not see us ever leaving!

This is the best local theatre group for kids and even big kids. Although I'm not a member, I see the events. Good place to be.

I found out about the program last summer, because I was looking for the youth theater for my 6 years old daughter. She just loves it. She does not want to go home after the rehearsal is over. She is so happy to be a part of this fonderful group, and she learned a lot!MCYT is a great place for kids, who want to sing, dance, act, be on stage and even just make a new friends. Thank you so much all teachers at the Motor City Youth Theater. We love you.

The founder & director of MCYT is awesome!!!! The experiences offered to EVERY child [even those with special needs] is priceless...and the cost [almost free] is so minimal, it astounds me. From the bottom of our hearts, my family thanks you!

I actually found it from my cousins but I loved it from the start. If your little they don't rush you. If you bigger you have a few more responsiblities. But thats just one of the great things about the theater. I encourage any youth actors out there to come to MCYT. I know they will love it like I did.

I was introduced to Motor City Youth Theatre by my sister. She was in one show with them and is now in New York City pursuing musical theatre. Motor City Youth Theatre has really changed our lives for the better. I've gotten so much training from them and I've had a blast putting on great, fun productions. I would recommend it to any kid interested in theatre. It's awesome!

The truth about Motor City Youth Theatre is that it's all about the kids. So I think a kid should be up here with a review. Well, here I am! Improv and dance are my favorites, and they have great instructors for those and all other subjects! The kids are great too , there's lots of talent and there REALLY REALLY nice, i've made some of my absolute best friends here.You should give it a try! You will have LOTS of fun. The truth about MCYT is as simple as that!!!!

What a great day it was when my then 8-year-old daughter went to her first audition for a Motor City Youth Theatre production! My assumptions of what an audition meant were totally changed as I saw my daughter interact for the first time with Nancy Florkowski! Far from demanding and intimidating, this generous, energetic, and talented woman walked my youngster through the process, and MCYT productions and camps have fed her creative needs and those of her younger sister ever since. The skills and self- discovery my children have developed at MCYT are priceless!

My four children have learned and enjoyed the Motor City Youth Theatre for the past seven years. The acting, improv, choir and dance instruction have been stellar. The staff are professionals. Everyone involved is warm and caring. It feels like a family. The training has afforded my children the skills to secure and participate in commercials, industrials and movies. Thank you so much Nancy Florkowski and the Motor City Youth Theatre!

Motor City Youth Theatre is an excellent place to introduce your children to acting, creative thought/expression, dance, public speaking, etc. They will develop a self-confidence in communication that will serve them throughout their lives. I am quite familiar with the success of those who've participated in this group. My own daughter and several of her friends have continued their pursuit of musical theater in New York City. All of them have had success in landing jobs, including one young lady who was nominated for a Tony Award last year. So for you dreamers, the possibilities loom. For others who just want to expose their children to the arts, and get them comfortable with their own beings...MCYT is a great place to start.

My children have been with the Motor City Youth Theatre for over 4 years. The classes, workshops, and camps offered are fantasic. The teachers are the best in the City. The group's director, Nancy Florkowski, is a true professional. Her ability to build self-confidence in children is extrodinary. My children love performing in the many productions that are offered and we love to watch them. Without a doubt my kids would rate being a part of the MCYT as their favorite activity! Even if your children don't have the acting bug they will just love watching the theatrical productions that are presented by this group!
