about Murray City Park:

Murray City Park is a large city park, well hidden, but just off State Street. It has an outdoor pool, an amphitheater, lots of picnic spots and playing fields, ponds, plenty of walking and biking paths, and an arboretum.

The outdoor pool is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, weather permitting. Open plunge hours are Mon-Fri 10am-8pm; Sat 10am-7pm; Sundays or holidays 10am-6pm. Season passes can be purchased; call Murray City Parks and Recreation at the number above for more information. The outdoor pool also offers punch cards, which can be purchased at the pool. A punch card can admit more than one person. Call the outdoor pool at 801.290.4190 for more information about the punch passes.

The Park Center in Murray is a recreation center that sits at the south end of the park, at 202 East Murray Park Avenue. Center hours are Mon-Fri 5am-10pm, Sat 7am-7pm, and Sun 11am-4pm. It offers indoor pools, including a great kid's splash pool with slides, a "lazy river" float area, and colorful play equipment. The center also has an elevated track, two full-size basketball courts, a weight room, and a cardio area. Child care is available Mon-Fri 9am-12n & 6pm-8pm for children ages infant through 12; small fees apply. Call 801.284.4200 for more information about the rec center and for membership information.

Several kinds of sports lessons and programs for kids are offered at the Park Center and in Murray Park, including swimming lessons, Jr. Jazz basketball, Hoops 101, soccer, swim team, and life guard training.

Murray City Park has five pavilions:
Pavilion #1 (495 East 5300 South): Holds 100 people. It is close to Little Cottonwood Creek and the amphitheater. Barbeque grills and restrooms are available.
Pavilion #2: (495 East 5300 South): Holds 250 people. It has a raised stage area and is close to the amphitheater and restrooms. Barbecue grills are available.
Pavilion #3: (495 East 5300 South): Holds 100 people. It is close to Parkside Elementary School and a playground. Barbecue grills are available.
Pavilion #4: (440 East Vine Street (4950 South)): Holds 150 people. It has a small playground and a sand volleyball court, and it is close to the outdoor pool and restrooms. Barbecue grills are available.
Pavilion #5: (330 East Vine Street (4950 South)): Holds 300 people. It is close to the outdoor pool, concession stand, and a playground. Barbecue grills are available.

For further information about the pavilions, contact Murray City Parks Division at number listed above. Pavilions can be reserved May 1 through October 31. Reservations can be made up to one year in advance, and must be made in person at the Murray Parks & Recreation office at 296 East Murray Park Lane (in the center of the park, behind the concession stand).

Don't miss the farmer's market on Fridays and Saturdays, typically from late July through October, 9am-3pm.

getting there:

Located just east of State Street. The main entrance is at 330 East Vine Street (4940 South). The park can also be accessed from State Street, at about 5065 South, and from 5300 South at Murray City Park Lane (about 300 East).
