At Music and Movement of Newton featuring Music Together®, young children and grownups share songs, chants, fingerplays, dancing, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play in a non-performance-oriented, community setting. Carefully researched, developmentally appropriate activities support and respect the music learning styles of very young children. Forty-five minute classes meet weekly for 10 weeks, with a terrific CD and songbook included each semester. The mixed-age format creates a family feeling, enables siblings to attend together, and gives every child the freedom to take part as he or she chooses, unburdened by age-specific expectations. Big Kids Family Music? for age 4-7 after school with their grownups are now available. Babies classes may also be offered to suit schedule. Music and Movement of Newton now offers birthday parties at your place or ours, as well as music specialists for preschools and daycares. Class locations: the Mackenzie Center at 1337 Centre Street, Newton Centre, just a block from Beacon Street; Congregation Mishkan Tefila at 300 Hammond Pond Parkway, near the entrance to the Chestnut Hill Mall; and 200 Wells Avenue, across from the JCC.
