Musicmakers uses the national
Music Together program to build on the natural enthusiasm that children have for music and movement. The center helps parents provide to their children the basic musical skills needed to study an instrument and enjoy school and social musical activities.
An
Almost Big Kids' class is offered for families who have at least one child ages 2 1/2 or older. Parents or caregivers participate in every class.
The center's
Mixed-Age Class combines infants, toddlers, and preschoolers - and participating parents or caregivers - to allow families with more than one child to attend a
Musicmakers' class together.
Both classes run 45 minutes in length and include songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and rhythm instrument play. Two CDs and a songbook are included.
Musicmakers also offers
Suzuki Method violin lessons. Students ages four and older attend weekly private lessons and supplemental group lessons. Parents (who do not need previous music training) attend all lessons with their children, learning how to guide the students' daily practice as their "home teacher."
