about MusicTime:

A University of Miami program of musical enrichment for early childhood, MusicTime offers a full and varied music curriculum that includes singing, listening, ear training, movement, playing instruments, and musical notation. There are five curricula from which to choose as well as a summer camp:

MusicTime for Babies Classes meet thirty minutes once a week for fifteen weeks and are designed for 10-12 children. The curriculum is non-sequential and three available semesters may be taken in any order. Each parent receives an instrument pouch containing rhythm sticks, a rattle, and a colored scarf. In addition, the parent receives a small book and a CD of songs and rhymes to use with the baby at home.

MusicTime 1 (for toddlers 18 months to three years) meets once a week for thirty-five minutes and is designed for groups of 10-12 children. Each child receives a book featuring many of the curriculum's themes, songs, and activities.

MusicTime 2 (for ages three to four and a half years) meets once a week for forty-five minutes and are designed for groups of 10-12 children. To enroll, each child must have had their third birthday before class sessions begin.

MusicTime 3 (for ages four and a half to six years) requires a fifteen-week commitment, meeting once a week for one hour. Lessons make use of a variety of musical activities to awaken a child's imagination and to enhance language development, symbolic thinking, motor skills, and social interaction. Classes are limited to 12 students in order to ensure personal attention and maximum participation.

MusicTime 4 (ages six to eight years) introduces children to the keyboard. Capitalizing on the child's love of group music-making, and meets one hour weekly for 15 weeks.

A summer camp for children ages four and a half to six years old runs 9am to 12n in two weekly sessions, usually during the month of July. Instruction integrates music and art activities along with observing plant and birds around the UM campus to increase the child's awareness of their natural environment.

A two-week keyboard camp for children ages six to eight is also offered in July.
