The
Neo-Futurist Theater touts its performances as a "fusion of sport, poetry, and living-newspaper." Running since 1988,
Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind is the longest running show in Chicago. A one-hour blitz of 30 extremely brief plays that change every week, the show is ridiculously entertaining, but not exactly meant for a young audience.
Thankfully, the Neo-Futurists also perform a family-friendly version of the show, dubbed
Too Much Light Kids, which runs periodically. As a special and unusual perk, the performers order pizza for everyone if the show sells out!
Also, the theater houses the Barrel Of Monkey's weekly performance of
That's Weird Grandma.
