about New Life Volunteering Society:

The New Life Volunteering Society (NLVS) of UIC offers a free tutoring program for Chicago Public School students. A UIC student volunteer is individually matched with one Chicago Public School student and works with him/her during a session the same day and time each week on UIC's campus. The one-on-one tutoring format gives students a chance to get tutoring assistance on a personal level, which benefits both the tutors and the students. Students get personal, specialized tutoring suited for their style of learning, while tutors gain a experience in helping an individual succeed in school through their own efforts. The program runs concurrently with the UIC semester schedule, so there are three tutoring periods each year: fall, spring, and summer. Space is limited and the program is offered on a first come, first served basis.
