A family visit to
New York City Ballet offers a unique chance to explore the beauty and magic of ballet through a variety of family-friendly performance options and fun education programs designed to delight the young and the young at heart.
NYCB boasts the world's largest ballet repertory, featuring the incomparable works of George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Peter Martins, Christopher Wheeldon, and more. The holiday classic, George Balanchine's
The Nutcracker, takes the stage each year from late November through December. The Winter Repertory Season is performed for eight weeks during January and February. And the nine-week Spring Repertory Season runs late April through June.
NYCB's Education Department sponsors a number of creative and informative presentations for audiences of all ages on an annual basis. Programs for children include Family Fanfare, Ballet Fundamentals, Ballet for Young People, and Family Insights.
These programs are designed to enhance the audience's ballet-going experience, and to familiarize them with the rich and varied NYCB repertory. Audience members learn about the creative work of NYCB dancers, musicians, choreographers, and production designers from the artists themselves.
