New York Methodist Hospital, founded in 1881, is a voluntary, acute-care teaching facility that has undergone extensive renovations in recent years and is now one of the 200 largest hospitals in the United States. NYM provides a full range of pediatric services - general pediatrics, neonatal intensive care, and most of the pediatric subspecialties. The Hospital's inpatient pediatric unit has private rooms for all patients, allowing parents to stay the night with their children. a separate pediatric emergency room is staffed by pediatricians certified in emergency medicine. As a member of the New York Presbyterian Healthcare System, the few highly specialized services not available at NYM are provided at other member institutions of the network.
