about Niagara Falls:
The power of
Niagara Falls, The winner of our
2009 Parents' Picks Award for Best Tourist Spot in the Buffalo area, has inspired poets (Gregory Corso!) and romantics for centuries, and it is an awe-inspiring, must-do side trip for anyone in the Buffalo area - at least once.
Like all tourist attractions, it has its share of, well, tourist-y traps. Trinkets abound.
Do take the elevator ride down 175' to the Cave of the Winds, at the base of Bridal Veil Falls, and walk along the base of the falls on a series of wooden stairs and decks. Souvenir raincoats and sandals are included in the admission fee.
In the evening (after 9pm), spotlights illuminate the Horseshoe Falls and the American Falls. On Fridays, Sundays, and holidays during the summer, fireworks shows erupt at 10pm.tips:
The Niagara USA Discovery Pass (adults $33; children $26) provides access to The Cave of the Winds, The Maid of the Mist, Niagara Adventure Theater, The Niagara Gorge Discovery Center, the Aquarium of Niagara, and Niagara Scenic Trolley.
