Named after one of the original chiefs of the Narragansett Indians, the Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge features diverse wildlife and vegetation. Over 250 bird species visit seasonally, and 70 species nest on the property, making bird watching and photography popular refuge activities. With salt marshes, kettle ponds, freshwater wetlands, maritime shrub, lands and forests dominated by oak or maple, its habitat is varied and plentiful.
Visit the Kettle Pond Visitors' Center for interactive exhibits, classrooms, a gift shop, and hiking trails.
