The exhibits at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences look at the natural world through the distinct lens of North Carolina's diverse geography, geology, plants, and animals.
The Living Conservatory (closed on Mondays) invites visitors to become immersed in living plants and animals, including ruby-throated hummingbirds, butterflies, turtles, snakes, and a live sloth.
Birthday party packages for children ages three to ten include a printable invitation; 45 minutes of interactive activities, crafts and live animal presentations led by a Museum educator; 45 minutes of "party time" (cake, ice cream, and beverage are provided, additional food and beverage items may be purchased); set up, clean up and all paper products; a private party room; and gift bags for each party guest. Parties are offered on Saturdays at 10am, 1pm, and 3:30 pm; Sundays at 1pm and 3:30pm, and are open to a maximum of 12 children - including the birthday child. Summer camp programs are open to kids ages four to nine.
The Acro Café serves breakfast Mon-Sat, 8am-10am, in addition to snacks, coffee, and lunch throughout the museum's open hours. Diners can watch the hummingbirds and butterflies in the neighboring fourth floor Living Conservatory.
