about NY Film Academy:

Budding Spielbergs or Wenders can get a serious leg up in the business by attending the NY Film Academy's Summer Workshop, the winner of our 2008 Parents' Picks quest to find the Best Day Camp for Teens in NYC. Students, however, must be prepared to live and breathe film in this intensive total immersion workshop. As space is limited, we recommend early application to guarantee a place in the workshop of your choice. Apply by mail or through the website above. Students are supervised Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm (9am-4pm for ages 10-13) in class, on film shoots, and in the editing room. Options for older kids include a one-week music video course, acting for film (one or four weeks), one week of AMC film-making, and other four to six week programs. The filmmaking program is comprised of hands-on exercises in shooting and lighting, film screenings, lectures, and special activities. In addition, students shoot and edit approximately a film per person each week. At the end of the course students have a final screening, open to actors, friends, and family. They also receive a diploma and the 16mm originals of their work. No previous filmmaking experience is required. The Academy encourages enrollment of students from all backgrounds and all parts of the world.
