This YMCA serves Allston, Brighton and nearby communities. It offers child care options, sports programs, art programs, and afterschool youth programs. Preschoolers through teenagers can participate in gymnastics, basketball and other sports activities that vary thoughtout the year. Call the front desk for current programs. Afterschool programs: Supervised childcare is offered after school at the Baldwin and Winship public schools as well as at the branch. Activities include homework assistance and outdoor recreation. Swim Lessons: Offered to children beginning at the age 6 months. Parent/Child classes for children 6mos-3yrs allow kids to feel comfortable in the water while parents help teach important skills. The preschool swim program is designed for children ages 3-to-5. Children aged 6 and up progress through various levels of instruction. The nationally recognized program has seven levels that cover all strokes and safety skills. Special Aquatic Programs: Children with special needs can receive individualized swim instruction. Emphasis is water movement skills and increasing comfort level in water. Teens can join the swim team to improve their swimming skills. Children's art program: Classes are offered to children aged 4-10. They include drawing and painting and other age appropriate instruction. And Little Hands is an acting program for children ages 7-to-10.
