about Oakland Nature Preserve:
The primary missions of the devoted Oakland Nature Preserve volunteers are to educate people about the ecosystem and to restore original plants and wildlife back into the preserve.
With a 3000 foot boardwalk that winds through wetlands, this park primarily offers scenic hiking trails through the nature preserve. The boardwalk ends at Lake Apopka, a popular location for bird watching. See Red-winged Blackbirds, Little Blue Heron, Snowy Egret, and more in your walks through the preserve.
tips:
For kids interested in the outdoors, volunteering at the preserve is a great way to get involved in the community - and to pick up any service hours they may need for school. Contact the preserve to see what projects are next on their list.
getting there:
Located on SR-438 (Oakland Avenue) between the West Orange Trail and Lake Apopka, behind the MOSAIC Church.
