This is a marvelous playground, with an ocean view, situated right next to Santa Monica Beach.
The park is along one side of the bike path and mostly fenced in so kids enjoy the constant action whizzing by like bikes and roller bladers.
Smallish in size, Ocean Park Playground has three swings and two toddler play areas, with several slides and climbing equipment, a sandlot, and a ride-on space shuttle for two. The playground's best features, though, are the fresh ocean breezes, soaring seagulls, and the stunning view of the Pacific.
There is also plenty of open grass to play on, and a beach snack bar open most days until sunset.
Parking is easy, with two large park all day lots ($6-$9 depending on the season), as well as an hourly pay-and-display lot ($1/hour for up to two hours).
The playground is also called Dorothy Green Park.

tips:
We like to split our time by playing here and then taking a walk on the beach down to the ocean. Note that the beach is pretty wide here, so it can be a hike for little ones to make it down to the water; packing light is key.
getting there:
Take the 10 Freeway and exit at 4th street. Left on Fourth street to Ocean Park Blvd. End of Ocean Park Blvd. Metered parking available on Neilson Way (1 block East of Barnard Way), Barnard Way, and some on Ocean Park.
