This national chain sells (and buys) clothing in sizes newborn to ten, furniture, toys, books, and equipment. The pickings get slimmer as the sizes go up, since kids wear things longer and wear them out, but it's not uncommon to find infantwear with the tags still on. Once Upon a Child is also a good place to save on must-haves that have limited use, like raincoats, and halloween costumes; and things that come in handy to have as spares, such as blankets and swimsuits. There are usually plenty of Barbie dolls, strollers, and little Happy Meal-type toys for sale, and the store also sells a small selection of new items, such as puzzles and barettes. No appointment is needed to bring things in for resale, but it might pay to call ahead to find out if a wait is likely. The store will issue a check on the spot (bring photo ID) for those items it accepts if the total is over $30; less than $30 is paid in cash.
