Once Upon A Child sells "gently used" kids clothes from infant to size 16 (sizing varies by location) in more than 200 stores nationwide. While hours and selections vary somewhat by location, all of the stores we've shopped store can claim to have a helpful staff. The stores also handle toys and furniture, from games and puzzles to changing tables and toddler beds. For the most part, truly new merchandise is restricted to hair accessories for girls and other small items. However, because Once Upon A Child resale policies are pretty strict, most clothing items are in very good shape, particularly special occasion items such as formal dresses and Halloween costumes. The selection of toys, videos, and books varies by store (and by the day). Generally, toy selections turn more quickly than books and videos, so there are more toys (in more varied conditions). Don't be surprised if your really-honestly-just-like-new books/videos are refused when you take them in for resale. Also, be aware that the stores do not accept car seats, recalled items, and any products that do not meet current Government Safety Standards. Overall, Once Upon A Child's low prices and high standards for accepting used items make the stores worth visiting as your kids grow. Most stores offer a check on the spot for your used items (bring a photo ID).
