about Orchard House:
Orchard House was home for over 20 years to the Alcott family, including Louisa May Alcott, author of the beloved novel Little Women, which was written here in 1868, and her father, A. Bronson Alcott, philosopher and educator.
The house is shown by guided tour only. 30-minute tours are generally offered every half an hour, hourly during winter weekdays. Tickets for the day's tours are sold on a "first come" basis. An orientation video, art studio, Concord School of Philosophy, and gift shop are also available.
getting there:
Take I-95/Rte 128 to Exit 30B Route 2A W toward Concord Center. At the V, where 2A continues left, proceed right, following the sign to Battle Road - April 19, 1775 - Historic Concord. Continue 2.5 miles. House is on right; parking is in the Wayside lot, left on Hawthorne Lane, just before House. Via Public Transportation, Orchard House is a 20-minute walk from Concord's MBTA Rail (Purple Line).
