about Ottendorfer Branch Library:

The Ottendorfer Branch of the New York Public Library, virtually unchanged since 1884 - the building is a designated New York City landmark - currently houses adult, young adult, and children's collections.

The two-story branch house an historic German-language collection and a children's floor with a story hour room.

Special events include workshops, films, picture book hours, book discussions, and concerts.

tips:

Every child should have his or her own Library Card. The powerful feeling of recognition as a being in his or her own right goes a long way toward developing a love of libraries and reading. Children from birth to age 11 can have their own cards; applications must be signed and completed by a parent or guardian. Teenagers in 7th grade and up (or 12 and older) must present identification that indicates their grade level or age: a program card, report card, birth certificate, or letter from a teacher on school stationary. Visit www.nypl.org for more information.
